| Job Summary | The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry is seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Orofacial Pain. This is a full time, 12-month assignment period, Special Title Series, tenure track eligible position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The anticipated start date for this assignment is July 1, 2027. Position Description: Under the supervision of the Chief, Division of Orofacial Pain, this orofacial pain faculty member will participate in the academic, research and service programs of the Division of Orofacial Pain within the Department of Oral Health Science and help strengthen both the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral programs in orofacial pain. This individual will work with other faculty and staff in the Division to strengthen the educational, service and research programs for the Division, consistent with the University's goals. This position is also critical to faculty development and succession planning within the Division of Orofacial Pain. The selected individual will mentor junior faculty, foster leadership growth, and help ensure the long-term stability and continuity of academic and clinical programs through thoughtful planning and professional development initiatives. Primary Funding Source: College of Dentistry (combination of state line support and clinical income) Suggested Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 1. Provide post-doctoral education in the Orofacial Pain Residency Program. 2. Mentor post-doctoral student research in orofacial pain. 3. Provide clinical care for patients experiencing chronic painful disorders of the orofacial complex within a multidisciplinary clinic setting. 4. Supervise clinical care provided by residents in the orofacial pain clinic. 5. Teach and direct appropriate division, college and university courses. 6. Collaborate with the different divisions at the College of Dentistry and other Colleges to foster the dental education programs. 7. Publish scholarship and research results. Attempt to acquire extramural funding for research activities. 8. Present scholarship and research results at state, national and international meetings. 9. Serve on various College, University and national committees as requested or appointed. Distribution of Effort: Instruction 40-55% Research, Scholarship, and other Creative Activities 15-20% Service, including patient care 20-25% Administration 5-10% Personal/Professional Development 5-10% Total 100% Appointment/Promotion Criteria: Special Title Series Academic Dental Educator Assistant Professor
