Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking a Pain Management Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery center. You will provide nursing care specific to pain management that meets the standards of your profession. You will be responsible for identifying your patient and family's needs.
What you will do in this role:
- Prepare your patient care area adequately, ensuring availability of necessary pain management equipment and supplies
- Assess your patient's level of fear/anxiety and provide comfort and support for your patient and family
- Use two patient identifiers to verify your patient prior to all interventions and medications
- You will receive and implement all preoperative physician orders
- Conduct a complete history, physical and psychological assessment to evaluate your patient prior to any procedure
- You will ensure your team is aware of all relevant information before and after procedures
- Ensure your patient is cleared for discharge and contacted for follow up
Qualifications you will need:
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Pain Management, Preop, PACU, ER or ICU setting; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
- Additional specialty experience may be required as per facility practices (i.e. Pediatric, GI, etc)
- Active RN license as required by state of employment
- Required valid BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable
- ACLS required
- PALS as required by facility
