Postdoctoral researcher in digital biomarkers for pain
The Movement & Applied Imaging Lab at Boston University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher to advance the development and validation of digital biomarkers for chronic musculoskeletal pain using wearable biosensors and real-time symptom monitoring. This role involves leading patient-centered research at the intersection of precision medicine and digital health in populations with chronic musculoskeletal pain.
The candidate will implement multimodal passive biosensing (e.g., accelerometry, heart rate, sleep, etc.) and related analytic strategies (including AI/ML approaches) to identify digital signatures of real-world pain experience in people with chronic musculoskeletal pain.
Required qualifications:
PhD in biostatistics, engineering, data science, computer science, or related fields
Experience with multimodal wearable biosensing devices and data in human participants, ideally in a patient population
Proficiency in machine learning and statistical computing
Strong programming skills in Python/R
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams (clinicians, engineers, data scientists, patient partners)
We are looking for goal-oriented individuals with a desire to advance scientific knowledge for improving human health and an interest in supporting students.
This is a grant funded position and is contingent on continued availability of funding after the initial hire term of one year. This is an on-campus role.
